Some restaurants definitely grow their own ingredients in an onsite garden, actually, so that they have tighter control over the quality of the produce and spices. There are places like that where I live in Houston. They aren't seen as wasting time or money.

Fortunately, for me as a dev, software doesnt grow in trees, you know... It is the product of human deliberation, trial-and-error, consensus. I think its more like politics, than like food. It is rarely a good ideea to build your own administration...
