It doesn't have to do with text layout being hard. It has to do with CSS/HTML being a horrible design. I feel sorry for the folks who have to implement the layout engines in Chrome/Firefox/etc. What should be a simple job is instead a massive undertaking, for no good reason.

When refterm wraps a long line, it seems to rewrap the entire line, even the parts off the screen, and still do it super fast. That's still amazing to me.
