[2/2] ctray overlay timer for streamers, blandwidth bandwidth tester (FOSS), Meow Hash (FOSS), RAD's internal documentation and build systems (which suck, btw - I was pretty inexperienced, but they're still used to this day), MAP (MAX Automation Plugin), Moustache (debugger),

[2/3] and a bunch of things that were completed but never released, like the complete engine for Sushi Bar Samurai including automated playtest recording, playback, and authentication server; a custom renderfarm distribution system for Maxwell Render,

[2/4] The internal text editor I still use, the Handmade Hero codebase, over 1000 hours of recorded content for YouTube, dozens of lectures, three Indie Game Jam games (Owl, Hamsters, and Ears of War) and significant portions of the IGJ0 and IGJ2 engines,

I'm sure they produce 10x of something, but I can pretty much guarantee you it isn't software.

Don't worry, there will be a reason why it doesn't count if it wasn't SaaS written in Ruby pushed to Amazon Lambda, or whatever.

When I ship the SCG stuff on the web I will be very interested to hear how all the "it's different on the web, you just don't understand" arguments have to be modified. I can't wait for the creativity!

I think I know what some of them will be, but I'm not 100% sure. It's always fun to see how the excuse parade lines up with how you guess it will be.

You mean when you write some simple web code without using some giant super-complex Javascript framework? I can imagine it now....'you can't write web code without framworks, how will you maintain it!!!' 🤣🤣🤣

Man, the web is so fudged. You think it's bad but you have no idea. I've worked on sites where they had two slow web servers being held up by 4 caching servers. Cache was updated every 15 minutes. The data was updated by an external import. Once a day.

Just imagine four computers asking two computers every fifteen minutes whether they have something new yet when EVERY DEVELOPER ON THE PROJECT KNEW that the update was done once, nightly.

I already know what it will because I've heard it a thousand times: "We can't do it your way because we need auto scaling because we serve complex queries so we need 100 python servers and 25 redis servers and 56 elastic search servers"
