it's not strictly insane, they're just not "implementing an algorithm". What they're doing is "implement a new semantic universe that happens to also include the algorithm". And now every downstream problem is /also/ a problem of semantic interference.

Why are they like that? I think it's two reasons a) the thinking that most algorithms are already implemented somewhere, you just have to load the library b) they're implementing their own journey of understanding a problem instead of the result of that journey.
