Bit stuck at work right now, but https://github.com/minimaxir/big-list-of-naughty-strings/blob/master/blns.txt … is a good first file to dump there. It's popular enough that you might have already tried it.

Actually when I run refterm I'm hearing audio, like a scratching disk. All the versions do it, and the pitch of the noise seems tied to framerate. I found it very odd.
-
That's probably coil whine from your GPU. At high framerates it gets more audible

Whenever someone logs a defect you should argue in the github issue that it's not an easy problem to fix. Bonus points if it's passive aggressive

Have you seen LLVM’s directed fuzzer? It’s a very cool tool and is good for finding these kinds of issues.

In your demo you acknowledged ‘we don’t care’ as a valid reason for Windows Terminal to be slow. I think there is nothing more to it. Microsoft just preferred to write it on top of their existing code lasagna because that was easiest. Somehow the detractors just can’t accept that
-
*The users can't accept that. Sometimes, you want to write a bunch of stuff to the console every frame for debugging purposes without killing your framerate. It wasn't possible with cmd, we can't accept that we can't do that on a new terminal in 2021.
