back in 2010 I spent 2 weeks making a proof-of-concept renderer that could render flash animations with openGL just to test how viable it would be, and the completely unoptimized, missing-most-features renderer I made ran animations like 100x faster than flash could

this is the basis of the animation system in my current engine, though now it supports a whole ton more features, more accurately as well its also 1000x faster than flash now instead of 100x lmao

Everyone is fed this idea that we shouldn't reinvent the wheel so often, that they call layer on layer of slow code. No one pushes into lower layers to understand, so they assume that it can't be that simple, that there's no way one person could do better in a week's work.
