[1/2] If everyone just stopped posting excuses, and instead went and tried to verify if their excuses were actually true, they would learn a ton in the process. You'd probably become a good programmer by doing nothing more than trying to prove your excuses before posting them.

Between full time coding work and taking care of kids there isn’t that much more time or energy in a day for passion projects most weeks.

I totally get that. That's why I genuinly am trying to become a FOSS-contributor. But that is even harder to motivate oneself to do. Although rust community seems to be laser focused on smoothing the contribution path, and have a great empathy for new contributors.
