Latin codepoint sequences like î̂n̂̂ show the same diacritic at 4 different positions. (Arabic/Thai/Indic generalize this) On low-DPI displays at small sizes a layout engine wants to hint & subpixel-rasterize the glyphs via e.g. DirectWrite/FT.
