they haven't added reflection to C++ yet because they fear the power I would be able to wield if they actually added it

Yeah. It's sad that Rust is (as far as I know) the only language that tried to solve the root problem of resource management, versus ignoring the problem, implementing a GC (often for no known reason except being the opposite of C++), and band-aiding native resources management.

In terms of actual work, I've needed to fix way more resource leaks in C# and Java than I did in C++ (normalized by hour spent).

yeah I mean every time I've looked into it I just get to the borrow checker stuff and every example is like "here's the 100 lines you need to appease the borrow checker to do this thing that would be a one liner in C". neat concepts I guess.

It's not a good language, pretty much period (NO I DO NOT NEED YOU TO COME HERE AND TELL ME ABOUT IT RUST PROGRAMMERS, THANK YOU). But I think the _trend_ is good, and there are lots of these sorts of languages being worked on now, so I'm hopefully we'll get something soon.
