You normally don't need to write the whole hash with Git, 6 digits should be enough for anything that is not the Linux kernel. Did that not work here for some reason?

I was going to say this. But I think the standard is actually 7 characters for a "short" got hash. Also got to love that inconsistent syntax for deleting a tag locally vs remotely.

Still much better than to work with perforce changlist number. Much more frequent having to deal with XXXXXX number in most of operations. I still prefer git. Hash is used in rare occasion, this totally fine for me.

Tags were an afterthought to Git sadly. And instead of streamlining them into the commit command they just added a hack on top of the whole system
