What bothers me is there are obvious creative ways to deal with this. Bank should offer read only logins for services like Intuit and credit cards should offer one time use numbers for purchase through say a simple phone app. It's a small hassle for users, but better security.

There are so many ways things could be done more securely and more privately, and none of them are pursued :( Instead, billions of dollars a year are spent investing in "the blockchain", which will solve literally none of these problems.
