This for sure, but I've never really bothered to understand the "routing and account number". The biggest payments I make online are with numbers printed on the bottom of checks I've handed to /anyone/. At least I can trivially invalidate my tokens.

The ACH stuff seems pretty nuts, yes. Apparently with account and routing numbers banks can just move money around without your permission? It at least seems that way, since it happens with seemingly no holder-side authentication :/
