I'd like to hear a reply from them to justify an epic fail like this one.
-
It will be a very hand-wavey "we securely use / store / whatever" response, and then sometime in 2022 and 2023 you can look forward to the Intuit hack that leaks everyone's passwords where they apologize for the plain-text logs that they "didn't know about".

Non-problems like this can be easily avoided with proper use of the borrow checker. Alternatively you can record logins on the block chain.

This for sure, but I've never really bothered to understand the "routing and account number". The biggest payments I make online are with numbers printed on the bottom of checks I've handed to /anyone/. At least I can trivially invalidate my tokens.
-
The ACH stuff seems pretty nuts, yes. Apparently with account and routing numbers banks can just move money around without your permission? It at least seems that way, since it happens with seemingly no holder-side authentication :/

Sounds like the bank's 1976 cobol software doesn't have an API, so they have to scrape the website.

What bothers me is there are obvious creative ways to deal with this. Bank should offer read only logins for services like Intuit and credit cards should offer one time use numbers for purchase through say a simple phone app. It's a small hassle for users, but better security.
-
There are so many ways things could be done more securely and more privately, and none of them are pursued :( Instead, billions of dollars a year are spent investing in "the blockchain", which will solve literally none of these problems.

What is even worse is that intuit doesn't need to exist as a company. So the most secure thing would be to remove them altogether. Now one less place knows all of you banking info, social, and other important information
