That said, I don't use Slack, so I only use it for discord. Other folks will have to comment on whether it works as well for Slack and friends.

Hmm, I was told it’s illegal to use it (and other third party software) on some server because it allows non admin/mods to be able to view hidden channels and because it’s against discord TOS..

you can do this on the discord client if you know what you're doing. These channels aren't secret, only hidden within the UI, you can sniff them in some network requests

Yes, and it has programmery keyboard shortcuts too, like CTRL-UP to select a line above you, and CTRL-R to reply to that line, or CTRL-E to edit it, etc. So it's a very good client for programmer types, it will feel much more comfortable than the default discord client etc.
