How you know almost all of these gaming laptop reviews are fake: almost none of the laptops have trackpad buttons any more, as if you are supposed to somehow game with tap-to-click and software-induced dead times when you click or press a key. Yet no reviewer comments on this.

This is true, and yet hardware manufacturers listen to reviewers (on rare occasion), so it seems like them all shouting from the rooftops would be better than giving up. Mac is much better than PC in this regard (at least, was on their 2012 MBP models). It can be done better.

I'd say it's more part of 'you buy this knowing that you will need auxiliary components' - gaming laptops, in particular, carry more of a desktop-like quality to their expected accessories than a normal laptop would: you don't game with a trackpad.

I think it's because no one has come up with a good laptop-integrated mouse design yet. Adding buttons to a track pad does not make it useful for gaming, and makes it less useful for non-gaming (IMO). The other things you mention are proven to have good mobile versions

Or maybe you are aware of a good integrated mouse design? I used this one back in the day and it was pretty cool, but would not be great for gaming still:https://www.zdnet.com/product/mogo-mouse-bt/ …

I ended up getting my 'gaming' laptop from a custom laptop building company, with a track pad with buttons that is surprisingly usable on everything except twitch shooters, off the shelf gaming laptops are really bad right now.

In before someone says "Who games on a laptop?".

They review the screen, the keyboard, the size, the internals because they’re all meant to be used. The touchpad is not meant to be used for gaming whether it has buttons or not. It’s meant to be used for everything else the laptop can do, so it can be cheap.
