I normally reply to recruiters with a polite "no, thank you". But when they work for a company I find particularly odious, I do not:pic.twitter.com/0inNoQ66i3

When you look at the refusal to allow users - no matter how sophisticated - to unlock their phones or use alternate stores, and combine that with the 30% forced revenue take and $99 yearly fee for developers, there can be no argument that Apple is doing it "just for the user".
The fact is that the monopoly AppStore is a _profit center_ for Apple. You can read all about it in their financial statements. There are many ways they could have done security or ease-of-use that don't involve monopolizing and controlling their users. They chose profit instead.
This demonstrably doesn’t work, because that’s the way it works now on the Mac, and that’s why I have four different video conferencing tools running background processes on my computer all the time.
Again, this makes no sense. If Apple didn't want apps to run background processes, they could have just made the OS have a convenient feature for automatically pausing background processes when you're not using an app. It is not complicated.
Important software just bypasses the store and the security benefits of the model evaporate, it only works if the only way to be on the platform is to abide by the security model.
Again, still nope. Apple could have easily just made the policy be that you _also_ have to ship on the AppStore. Right? They could just say, all software has to ship on the AppStore, but it can also ship elsewhere.
The halfway that the Mac has is the worst of all worlds, apps in the store get punished by having less features, apps out of the store go hog wild (see Affinity Photo vs. Photoshop).
