I like watching live shows during lockdown but shows by artists I like are few and far between. Today I finally discovered Twitch. Turns out there are people making music and streaming games on Twitch *all the time* and they seem so happy to get more viewers. It's all very sweet.

It's surprising there aren't more academics or teachers with live stream channels. This would be a great format for talks, discussions, Q&As, and lessons. I'd pay a lot to watch live talks or lesson by experts.

Okay my last Twitch discovery update. There's a website http://nobody.live that shows you live streamers no one is watching. Joining one of the streams is like getting a fleeting, intimate glimpse into a person's life. It's contemporary art, I tell you.

One fun early experiment on Twitch: https://handmadehero.org/ Game programmer
@cmuratori live streaming himself making a video game from scratch. 600+ episodes in! I've occasionally pondered doing something similar for a creative project, though nothing's quite fit yet.1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes
Also, I have a followup to Handmade Hero coming out soon as well that tries to expand on this concept. it's a video-based class whose design is informed by what I've learned trying to teach programming via streaming (it's not available yet, but will be at https://starcodegalaxy.com )
