1. git doesnt handle large binary files well 2. git requires technical knowledge of how git works to use effectively, making it difficult to get non-programmers on the team using it 3. less ways to shoot yourself in the foot using svn

4. branching/merging tends to not be important for games anyway (since most games are tied together with duct tape anyway) so svn's shitty support for that is kind of irrelevant
