Definitely better than Audacity. Although I use it for a lot of midi stuff as well, though I don't really require a lot of precise composition tools.

I use ProTools but only because I'm used to it. The installation/licensing process is as annoying. I know a professional violinist who still uses her Atari Mega ST for arranging sheet music. It works very well for her :)
