Handmade Fogey, where Casey turns into a grumpy old man *from scratch* over the course of 36 years, and streams it all!

Great video. However a shame it’s needed.

The video of their own product 20 years ago at the end really sums up the whole industry pretty well. We need less "new features" and more
to what developers; experienced and intelligent developers, actually want and need fixed. I fear The Collapse of Civilization is nigh. -
The thing is, it doesn't have any new features either. The Visual Studio editor and debugger have gained less than 10 useful features for C++ development in the 20 years I've been using them daily. (I'm being generous, I can only think of 2 right now.)

We have 8-16 core CPUs in today's desktops with blazing fast SSDs, yet VS2019 can't run its debugger faster than a single core P4 on an old version of Visual C++. Embarrassing.
-
And it was pretty much that fast on lika 400mhz machine, too - you didn't _need_ a 1.8gHz P4 for instant-watch-window or whatever that thing was clocked at. Much lower-end machines worked just fine.
