Talked to a friend today about the @stripe "card declined" bug, and he said "oh THAT'S why I've been getting emails from people lately who say they can't buy my app..." This may be affecting a lot of people; we have no way of knowing because the error message is so misleading.

Edwin from Stripe here. Sorry about the declines! I've just dug into them and they look like they weren't cookie-related. Stripe blocked them for fraud reasons. Happy to chat more about what exactly happened here—you can DM or email edwin@stripe.com.

Also, I have no idea how this can be "fraud reasons". I just verified for myself that under Firefox with cookies blocked, the card is "declined". I launch Microsoft Edge, with all cookies allowed, and Stripe ACCEPTS THE SAME EXACT CARD. How is that not "cookie related"?

Hackers use those "Firefoxy" things, obviously.

I guess the Stripe algorithm is something like, "well obviously no l33t hax0r is ever going to be seen using Microsoft Edge... CARD ACCEPTED"
