Someday, in the distant future, humans will finally develop sufficiently advanced technology to have credit cards which don't need to be manually updated everywhere every five years when they perpetually "expire".

I don't remember the last time my card actually expired. Normally some asshat clones it and buys something expensive in a state I've never been to and the bank has to send me a new one.

Once our sense of privacy has completely erroded, we will accept using our biometrics as a paying method.

It's called direct debit and it's what you get when your society does not run on debt for anyone above 18.

This happens now, but fails because merchants have to pay Visa/MasterCard for the service, so many don't. The ones that do also don't seem to tell their users (for some reason) Source: Thought I could cancel a service by not updating this info, but they kept charging me just fine

I have a feeling that if we get the right people working on this problem they might be able to push it to... needing to manually update everywhere after 6, maybe even 7 year expiry! #DreamBig

Wallets like PayPal would be a solution if they were ubiquitous

I don't think this has anything to do with tech. Reason is security.

I just worry that the only people working on this are obsessed with using blockchain to do it.
