Too low time and it feels suspicious and threatening, too high and it doesn't pressure you at all. So, kinda makes sense to A/B it. Personally I just try to ignore all those time limit things, like I try to ignore the "n% off!!" things and just look at the resulting price.
This is true on every e-commerce site unfortunately. I’ve seen thousands of experiments running in parallel. It made debugging a total nightmare.
