The Sistine chapel was painted on commission from the church, and he put God and Adam in it. So I don't know. I guess I'm saying is that even in a commercial or commissioned work of art where you are using licensed characters, there can still be real art there as well.

I don't know that much of this discussion is really how I think about things anyways, but I do think you could make an argument that work is art when you are searching or striving for something that isn't strictly material goods in exchange for delivery of the work?

And in that sense, it may well be that _somebody_ on the set of a Marvel movie is an artist, right. Not sure who that would be exactly but there may be somebody doing art there, even if 99% of the people definitely aren't.
