Dear aspiring or novice programmers,
What programming concepts, techniques, or processes do you most want explained and tutorialed?
Please email faq@mollyrocket.com.
I am collecting questions for an upcoming @handmade_hero project and would like to know what is most needed.

(These can be anything from "how does a hash function work" to "I don't understand how to build a C program" to "what is an L2 cache", etc... no question is too basic, everyone needs to learn these things and it is always hard to find trustworthy information!)

My brain is hardwired to do object oriented programming and I'd like to see a problem, its "obvious" OO solution, its equivalent/alternative in C and how it compares.

I was thinking recently it would be an interesting project to go through the GoF design patterns book and show non-OO alternatives to them all.

I am not familiar with the abbreviation GoF but I'd be happy to do this - please e-mail faq@mollyrocket.com with some specifics and I can respond with some follow-up questions...

Hi Casey, it's the "Gang of Four", the guys who wrote the book on Design Patterns. https://www.amazon.com.au/Design-Patterns-Elements-Reusable-Object-Oriented/dp/0201633612 … https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Design_Patterns … They are the ones responsible for popularizing all the AbstractSingletonFactory stuff, which is particularly popular in the Java world.

Ahhh, yes, OK - I actually had that book wayyyy back when it was first published, so I am familiar with it. Please do send an e-mail if you get a chance so it will serve as a reminder.
