Hmm, good point! I think I have a way of taking a king if I have a queen and there is nothing else on the board (the same way as it would work in 2D), so it's not impossible. But I was wrong to think that a lack of blocking would make the game boring

Yeah assuming a stupid player on the other side, you can probably use a protected queen to just slowly back the king into a corner, but I'd have to think if even that is possible if the other player is smart... it may not be.
