This is a joke right? Literally all you gotta do is boot into the USB and follow the instructions of the installer. Never thought I’d see Jonathan Blow struggling to use Linux Mint of all things.

Lol man wasn’t trying to say you messed up, I just honestly thought you were joking because what you described is nothing at all like what I’ve experienced in the past 10 years (at least). Maybe your hardware is just really uncommon/weird and unsupported? Idk about Intel NUCs

I also have exactly this experience every time I try to install Linux. And by "experience", I mean that it is super janky, doesn't end up working, and then everyone says "it works fine for me!" I suspect it "works fine for them" in the same way the Apple trackpad does.

Challenge to the both of you: Use your Twitch channel, and show live via webcam: you installing Ubuntu. Two benefits: 1) viewers could possibly help out. 2) skeptical viewers who don’t see how you can fail could be convinced. PS: I will be honest, I am also baffled by it.

But Ubuntu is the one that actually works! At least for me. It's the other distributions that never work (Mint, Arch, Debian, etc.) I have Ubuntu installed on all three machines running Linux here specifically because it was the only one that actually worked.

I've tried several times to move to another distribution because there's a lot not to like about Ubuntu itself, and also you have to do a ton of configuring to make the install actually nice, but it's definitely the only distro I've found that can install out-of-the-box.

Of course, Ubuntu still doesn't "just work" in the full sense of the word (mouse problems, display problems, etc.), but at least it installs and runs without excessive manual intervention, which the other distributions don't.
