Has anyone ever demonstrated a password hacking scheme along the lines of: 1) Create a "legitimate" site that requires accounts, 2) Record not only the passwords people use, but also any mistakes they type in when trying to log in. 3) Try those passwords on common sites?

Though I guess it wasn’t legit at all. You just never let them in to your fake site and used all their attempts.

I type my personal desktop password into the work computer every few weeks. Amusingly the solution is probably to stop using a decade old password at home.

We use a browser extension that forces you to change work password whenever you type it somewhere else. Happened to me once. Instant regret
