All platforms still use bitmapped fonts, though. Glyph outlines are rendered into a cache and used as if they were bitmaps. So that part doesn't really change. Color depth is very hard to compare apples to apples, unfortunately, because the Amiga was bit-planar.

True, but the Amiga didn't have alpha blending for sub-pixel font rendering.
