Question: Do most programmers believe computers are faster than they really are or slower than they really are?

And they don't believe us...it sounds like the "walked 10 miles uphill both ways to school" thing.

And these thoughts remind me of Henry Baker's "I Have a Feeling We're Not in Emerald City Anymore" article. (might be here somewhere: http://home.pipeline.com/~hbaker1/ )

It blew my mind when I first did a rendering engine and gave plenty of FPS not even using a GPU. I thought there always had to be some fancy tricks of using past pixel state or something.

I guess this is coming from when I first started programming I was using stuff like print and cls to console commands to display ascii graphics, not the best stuff. Still not sure why it was so bad, I should probably look into that...

It's moreso ironic that advancements in v8/js have given us slower software (Electron). I do love using Affinity Designer for how snappy it is.
