My favorite is the second one doesn’t pick up destination formatting so actually they are both absurd.

What the destination program does with pasted plain text is up to it - this usually works ok in Google Docs for example but there is an astonishing lack of consistency across the board.

Related: I don't remember which program it is, but on a certain Microsoft Office program's web version, if you right click and click "copy" a popup comes up telling you to press CTRL+C instead because copy via right click isn't supported.
-
That's amazing - you have to grab a GIF of that!!

Here's something "funny" about Macs; their standard paste hotkey is CMD+v, right? But if you go into their Mail program and try to paste into the search bar you just get an ERROR sound. It's been like this for 10 years+. To paste, you need to right-mouse-click and select Paste.
-
Do you want to guess how many times I've heard that ERROR YOU CAN'T CMD-V PASTE IN THIS FIELD sound effect? No, probably not. But what I'm saying is it's a lot.

Linux / Xorg has *three* clipboard buffers to be fair. And seemingly every program wants to use a different one.

It feels a little depressing that: ctl+c, alt+tab (to an always open plain text editor), ctl+v, ctl+a, ctl+x, alt+tab (to target window), ctl+v is actually part of many of my everyday workflows...
-
I made the switch to ctrl+shift+v a while back and never looked back! It's an adjustment but it's worth it.
