I tried Affinity for a month or so a year or two ago and had major performance and stability issues when working with even moderately large files. Do you know if there has been an improvement in those areas? I'd love to jump off of the sinking Photoshop ship.

By 'moderately large' I mean maybe 20 megapixel raw files. I had even more problems trying to merge images to construct panoramas. If I remember correctly Affinity became so slow as to be unusable while Photoshop for all its bad-ness kept chugging along.

Also, for digital painting, I love Autodesk Sketchbook. Fully truly free, and a GREAT ux for pen based windows 2 in 1 PC's like yoga or surface. Psd, great brushes, basic layers, masking, animation and editing. That ux is so nice tho. What a relief from Photoshop!
