Today on @handmade_hero I proposed "The Linux Mouse Challenge": Be the first Linux distribution where all mouse/trackpad devices work by default if they work when you boot to Windows. I currently know of no distribution that even comes close to achieving this, even for HID mice.

and I probably should've been explicit, but my issues are with the trackpad on a Dell XPS which, though admittedly a lame choice, I hoped due to its ubiquity wouldn't have this problem.

what kind of devices are you people using? I've never had issues with any input devices aside from weird brand stylus/tablets
