The goal here would not be purely frivolous. The idea is to see whether or not the Linux community is capable of supplying a reliable operating system from the perspective of an end user who wants to use peripherals.

This is *especially* hilarious given the number of things that work flawlessly on some Linux distros but are a pain in the ass to get working on Windows. Yeah you can use a PS3 controller out of the box but make sure you get the right mouse or it won't work. lol

I spent about an hour trying to get ubuntu to work on my laptop without the cursor randomly jumping half the screen and just gave up.

what kind of devices are you people using? I've never had issues with any input devices aside from weird brand stylus/tablets - Show replies

Haven't had these problems in years and I'm even using somewhat exotic stuff like the Razer Naga, which has an integrated numpad.

An if it is, as some people suspect, some Microsoft code fuckery, Linux can't be blamed. Remember how Microsoft designed ACPI to be basically unusable by Linux?

Really? What problem are you having? The only weird one I've seen is the accelerometer being classed as an input device, other than that, I've literally not had an issue

An option would be for someone to start to record the current state and identify/visualize what needs doing. That is a lot of work and would require maintenance though... The remaining work can then be broken down further. No individual would need all devices.
