This is because %ERRORLEVEL% gets rewritten after every command, so if you execute two commands, if the first one fails, but the second one succeeds, _the batch file reports itself as having succeeded_.

Mm, yeah... you're stuck putting '|| exit /b' after everything. It's unfortunate it doesn't have something like bash's '-e' switch. Seems like a very simple feature.

I am not a fan of DOS batch or powershell. Just give me a bash shell and vi, and add in Putty’s intuitive copy to clipboard mechanic, and I’ll be happy.
