With the upcoming v0.4 update, Meow Hash is now the fastest hash across all buffer sizes, not just 1k and up. It now regularly beats all other hashes on small inputs, often by a considerable margin:pic.twitter.com/nbuIypvj5Q
I'm worried that the baby thinks people can't change.

Question about the MeowHash handling of partial AES blocks: is it loading the 128-bit register past the end of the key memory (even though it never uses the bytes past the end of the key)?
Not exactly. It depends on the memory alignment. It checks the page boundary and does the right 128-bit load to ensure that it can produce the proper trailing bytes without downshifting to scalar and without faulting.
It's just craziness invented by Jeff Roberts to get around the fact that the CPU can't do a mask load. AVX-512 solves this problem, so when that gets more supported, then this little dance goes away :)
