Thanks to prodding by Jeff Roberts, a new Meow hash construction is now in testing that supports multithreading on a single hash. This allows full memory bandwidth utilization (since modern chips can't provide full memory bandwidth to a single core) on large (multi-mb) hashes.

And the construction still runs at 16 bytes/cycle in cache, or even faster now if you can keep your multiple threads fed with data already in cache!
