Just a heads up for @handmade_hero viewers: it looks like @YouTube may be starting to force people to turn on advertising. I don't know if we will be subject to that, we'll see. But I wanted to raise the issue now so it doesn't take people by surprise:

I don't think it has to be profitable, given it's Google that owns it. I'm always surprised that these companies think their every finger and nail has to pull in mad cashes.

It is not really an open question. The way public traded companies work in the US is that the shareholders elect the board of directors. So the shareholders are in charge, ultimately, and they didn't buy shares in Alphabet because they care about Handmade Hero not having ads :P
