  16. She was born in Iowa in 1928. She and my grandfather married as teenagers. (He died 15 years ago.) She had 3 daughters, 9 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. (Below: 1930, with a cousin, just married, at my wedding in 2006)

  17. Grandma died late last night or early this morning, depending on your time zone. It took six weeks for Covid to take her. She had dementia for the last decade or so, and didn’t really know who I was - but she was a nice old lady, and she didn’t deserve this.

  20. A few minutes ago, she texted to say that she/her sisters finally got permission to see her after all, and were on their over - which doesn’t sound great, honestly - and she’d text or call when they get back. Welp. Here we go, I guess. Maybe.

  21. My mother called a bit ago; I missed it, but her message said that Grandma is going downhill fast and isn’t expected to last much longer. She and her sisters were upset that they weren’t allowed into the Covid ward to see her.
