What is the alternative to a "free-for-all"? Some kind of a board that regulates sex?

Established social norms like the good ol' 50s

I mean, don't we have established social norms now? If not quite the same ones as in the 50s?

So basically, we'd be better off if we got shoehorned into early marriages?

Well that would be more sexually distribitive, which I think is really Bret's core point. I mean, I like the status quo - had a great time on Tinder, met my wife on it and have 2 kids with her! But argmt is that there are deep below surface risks in New World of permissiveness

The idea is that if people are shoehorned into early marriage (presumably by some kind of omnipresent social pressure to be provided by an as-yet-unnamed agency), we would all get laid more?

Not all, the top 5% Bret refers to would get a lot less, the bottom quartile a lot more And women may potentially win as most desirable men forced to commit rather than dabble indefinitely (that's a longer bow from Bret's comments)

Did most men really have more frequent sex in the 1950s?? I feel like that was probably not the case.

Can believe sex was more evenly distributed. Less 'incels' or whatever theyre called. Less total sex due to reduced promiscuity

I think the increase in the incel movement is less due to dudes not getting laid, and more about having a online community to vent about it.
