Biggest push for statues was in 1920s in a prop campaign for Jim Crow funded by the Daughters of the Confederacy. Second biggest was 1960s.

They're mass produced pieces of junk (notice how easy that one in Durham went down?) and there purpose is to revise history not honor it.

In Hungary there is an outdoor exhibit of communist statues.They found the middle-ground.They are down but collected for history education
