I remember commenting on a CSPAN video that DC deserves statehood. It was a city I didn't really comprehend until I had the opportunity to work there. They really do not have a say in ANYthing. The vitriol and talk points against my support was ABSURD.
D.C. Statehood requires Congress to pass a bill and the President to sign it. There are still some folks who fail to grasp this, which is pretty tragic. D.C. has 700,000 residents w/o voting representation in Congress, more than Wyoming and Vermont. It's past time for Statehood.

At one point, someone made the argument, "Should Orlando become a state?" and then proceeded to claim that the population of DC was under 220,000... People are really stupid about this.

Taxation without representation was SUCH a massive spark for the Revolutionary War, I will never believe the US should have a District or any Territories, including Puerto Rico, without representation in both the House and the Senate. It is shameful, especially in this country

DC people deserve equal rights, but giving an area with 700k people 2 votes in the Senate when 40 million Californians also have 2 seats is PROFOUNDLY undemocratic. DC should be retroceded to Maryland or Virginia.
