America also belongs to those who don't believe in any religion or higher power, and as a Christian, I have certainly never needed anyone to affirm my faith. It's dangerous when those who claim to be faithful need everyone around them to constantly affirm that faith. What faith?

It is a demonstration of insecurity, which I am sympathetic towards. What is unsympathetic, is the overt behavior to architect the world around those insecurities. The specificity required to maintain that architecture labels human beings as undesirable.
