    Giant fluffy thing? ✅ Buttons that click? ✅ Makes colors change? ✅ The toddler trifecta. They went bananas for it. Now I’m working in an enclosure for the plugs and Pi. Bonus: I now get to SSH into a literal cloud. I can make so many dumb jokes about my personal cloud now.

    Kids love buttons so I made buttons. I designed and 3D printed some arcade buttons that fit over cheap momentary switches. Added those to a Raspberry Pi Zero W and mixed in a brief Python script to send API calls. Now each button changes the cloud’s color.

    After seeing make a giant cloud lamp ☁️ I knew a toddler in my life needed one. This now hangs above their reading nook. I went a different direction with my lights. I used Philips Hue strips I already had so I could access the API.

    This has been a long time coming. Terrific work by ! True story: Steven showed me MoveKit during a training class about a year ago, so I tried it out right then. I think I bugged him at every break to tell him it was black magic. It’s only gotten better.

    I scratched it, lightly, with a 3,000 grit mesh pad to lighten the wild mold look which brightened the finish of the “metal” and gave the rust reaction a nice look. Not my original intention, but a lovely mistake.

    I applied real rust to a small test prop (do you recognize it?) and went to seal it as I’ve done dozens of times. Except this time I used Alclad Aqua Gloss and it had a crazy reaction. Suddenly I had a moldy pendent! It’s actually really cool. Ever seen this, ?

    Switched to ABS and printed Benchy a few times. 5 and 6 looked great. I added 35% cooling for 6 (right) and that fixed the windows and chimney. There’s some slight warping on the hull’s sharp corners and some holes in the top layer of the cabin above the bridging. Very close.

    I practice 3D modeling, airbrush, and make replica props. It keeps me sane and happy and away from my office. Bonus: I display my work in cabinets that sit at the sides of my desk so I can look at them while I work.

    Get a hobby. Seriously. Go find something that you enjoy, and do it regularly. Don’t monetize it, don’t make it a side hustle, just do it because you love it. What are your hobbies? I crochet, play video games, and make artwork.

    I spent the past few days finishing this Mandalorian bust. I’m really happy with the results. This is the first small item I’ve painted with an airbrush (except the little details) and Citadel paints. I muddled the chrome finish on the Beskar pieces but they’re still shiny.
