    Ärzt_innen beschweren sich ständig, dass Patient_innen lieber Google fragen als sie & ihnen nicht vertrauen. Für mich ist fehlendes Vertrauen inzwischen wichtig, weil Menschen mit med. Ausbildung so schlecht informiert sind, dass sie mir keinen Grund geben ihnen zu vertrauen.

    I see a lot of complaints in my Twitter stream about academic conferences rejecting papers. I think many somewhat miss the point - a lot of unfair rejections are a direct result of the current incentive structures that generate too many papers and focus them on too few confs.

    I'm currently implementing an algorithm from a paper that claims to be O(1) but that hinges on a very important detail that the text describes with "it is trivial to compute [...]". By this point I'm 80% sure the paper is actually just wrong

    can we PLEASE eliminate stuff like "The vector potential A′ is, of course, zero" because hell no I do not know why the vector potential is OF COURSE zero like oh yeah this relativistic electrodynamics stuff is super logical no thank you sir. This is just making me feel dumber 🥺

    This. In the Nordics, you have to actually pay people for the hours they work, and shockingly, not many folks work more than full time on the regular because it makes no business sense. The US doesn't have an overwork problem, it has a wage theft problem.

    A bit obvious maybe, but worth restating: Making folks work 50-60-70 hour weeks only makes business sense if you still only pay them for 40.
