My view is that this is an inheritance tax which the rich and savvy will protect themselves from and so the burden will be unfairly felt.

Possible, but in current system LA can go for assets they think have been put in trust or given away to avoid payment.

True but surely it's fairer just to tax income to pay for health and social care? On the doorstep people told me they would rather this.

Hardly theft, at least you keep a £100,000. Current system £23000 and you have to contribute down to your last £14000 .

But that was just for residential care this now includes care in the home which is what most people have. More people will pay more.
