ICYMI: the #WALeg House and Senate passed legislation allowing greater housing density in cities statewide. Apart from helping solve the state's housing crisis, density is a key climate solution, reducing vehicle travel needs and thus carbon emissions.

HB 1181 was re-approved by the House today, meaning it is headed to the Governor's desk. Washington cities updating their comp plans in 2025 (Vancouver, Bellingham, Olympia) or later will have to incorporate climate change planning.

Will all the new electric vehicles tax our aging electricity grid? The EPA claims the status quo won't change much. The agency estimates the rules would require a small, 0.4% increase in electricity generation to meet new EV demand by 2030.
