They'll upgrade the hardware. They designed the Model 3, X and S to be upgradable. New hardware is Tesla's design, not Nvidia's. 21X faster.

How come no one asked if the cars were going to be able to charge themselves when the robo taxi is ready?

It's perceived to be a minor challenge, easily solved. They had the snake charger prototype built a few years back. That's just a few motors and cameras running on what's probably a raspberry pi. mmm....pie. brb.
