Very sad to see this. Walgreens has closed 17 locations in the past five years and many elderly and disabled people are having a hard time getting their medicines.

Similarly, the government depends upon the profit motive for firms to do much of the work it relies upon. A government that tries to in source everything has already been attempted; it's called communism. It resuls in misery, deprivation of needs and loss of individual rights.

...the entity in I'm referring to is the government. Regular people do not pay to use roads and bridges, and the government does not profit from building and maintaining them.

There are tons of services that we the taxpayers fund collectively that do not make money. It is logical to fund the services that we need so we can maintain a functioning society.
