“Mommy gap bias” is the idea that stay-at-home parents don't "meet ideal worker norms, most of which require absolute commitment to a job - arguably impossible to attain for women responsible for caregiving." By :

We work to make money, and enough of it to live as comfortably and securely as possible. How Americans can achieve that security, in addition to the familial responsibilities, weighs heavily on women over 40. Failing to see that and them is to our social and economic disadvantage

And the opportunity to career jump is a privilege many people just can’t afford. Housing prices in cities keep qualified candidates from moving, and taking a slightly higher-paying job could result in losing critical resources women bring home through public benefit programs

If women attempt to make a career change to better their family’s standing financially, they’re still behind men. When they reach retirement age, they may have earned a cumulative $1,055,000 less than her male counterparts when accounting for the pay gap/common job interruptions

Women 55 and over are the fastest-growing segment of the U.S. workforce, but we do little to take advantage of their experience (read: few raises + promotions) or accommodate the work-life balance we expect of them (a national paid leave policy? lolz!)

I am zero percent surprised women over 40 do it all. But I did not expect employers to be HALF as likely to interview a Gen X woman who has taken time away from work to care for family, kids, aging parents than another job candidate because they see them as "less reliable." What!

For Gen X women, a group often defined as caregivers, breadwinners, and matriarchs, a midlife career change can be risky

In 2015, students at the University of Missouri (Mizzou) forced two top officials to resign after their perceived insufficient response to racist incidents. The D1 football team even boycotted. Four years later, I went to Mizzou to find out what's changed:

There are 114,00 homeless students in New York City. We spent a day with two of them, to capture how much effort, help and luck it takes for these children to have a shot at a decent education. Meet Darnell and Sandy.

This is the chair of the Arizona GOP. One of the most dangerous trends in American politics right now is Republicans coming to explicitly see democracy as dangerous to their rule, and the answer being less democracy, not a more popular agenda.

Fostering connection around grief takes work, and to do it, Americans would need to question the very values we believe ensure economic/social success. Even if that progress feels largely invisible right now, it might be starting to peek through the glow of our phone screens.

It's not perfect—many report that emoji and platitudes shared in Facebook comments after the loss of a loved one don't cut it.

In addition to providing digital spaces for communication outside of the traditional funeral, social media has propelled activism after tragic deaths and resulted in some of the most prevalent movements of our time, such as March for Our Lives and Black Lives Matter.

Research backs this up, too. Studies show that social networks “empower individuals marginalized by more traditional forms of memorialization.” And users who connect on Facebook after a loss interact far more than they did before—for at least two years following the death.
